cactus flowers seem to be one of the most beautiful blooms i’ve ever seen… and though with all that aesthetic blessing it is surrounded by pricklies …. ready to hurt when you get too close. something this amazing is never easy to get close to.

there is a gentleman on flickr that goes by the handle pbo31. i found his account by accident and kept him as a contact since everything that he takes photographs of seem to glow… and exude some other energy that makes me happy. i’ve never seen a picture of him. he just takes simple digital shots of subjects all over his hometown (san francisco) and you can tell by the detail and observation of his subjects that he has lived there for a very long time. i always find myself rolling over to his account to browse his images when i am feeling rather sad…
i just find it pretty damn amazing how we as human beings can connect with one another electronically, digitally – and that has somehow replaced our need to touch and feel … and yet… sometimes we are so desperate for that connection that we create other worlds that house these relationships online. although i am still an advocate of connection born out of realness.. face-to-face… no computers, cameras or any other device…
getting back to the things that human beings cannot create. stuff from nature and stuff we can never duplicate seem to matter more to me than anything i can see on the vast world of web.
