I am part of a pool in Flickr called 365 Days. The photo project is easy. One self-portrait everyday for an entire year. After starting earlier this year, a hiatus for 3 months, and restarting again in October… 365 days is not so easy, I realize. It is a commitment in which one must step out of their routine and step back from their life to take a quick snap of it.
I’ve made it a habit now to write a little blurb for most of my days. Below is the caption for this photograph… one of my favorite days so far:
The shirt they all loved.
I volunteered this evening at a shelter for victims of domestic violence. For two hours I taught crafting to children between the ages of 5-12.
kid: Hi!!!! So you like the Beatles, right??
me: Yes, of course. Do you?
kid: Yeah.
me: Well, what’s your favorite song of theirs?
kid: Uhh… the one about holding hands!
me: Wow, that’s amazing..me too!
8 out of 10 kids chose John Lennon as their favorite Beatle… why? one young lady told me that John wrote all the lyrics and he wrote the best songs.
She was seven.
Brilliant.

I am now confirmed to teach arts n’ crafts to the same group of kids throughout December 07-February 08. Hurray!
